Cobblestone Street Park Down by Boonslick bridge is an area of land. It is near the Missouri River. The railway line cuts through unatractive industrial area. I never knew that under the dirt was a piece of Missouri history. Buried under the soil was a cobblestoned street. Such streets are very common in England. It was of great interest to know that Boonville had these sorts of streets too. When I was first here this area was under water. Several years later the old iron Boonslick Bridge was dismantled and a new bridge was built. It was at this time that the remains of the cobbled street were uncovered and a park was made about this street. |

River Boats and the Missouri River Near Boonslick Bridge is a wall paiting. It showes the history of Boonville. One of the images is a Missouri River Steam Boat. These once came up the river to Boonville. The area of Cobblestone Street was where the boats docked. Along this street rumbled the carts that collected the goods that had been unloaded. |

The Railway Age. River traffic thrived through the 1830 to 1860. This ended with the coming of the railway. The railway took over from the steam boats. The train brought the goods and passengers to Boonville. Cobblestone Street became the place where the railway wagons were unloaded. Here is a photograph showing the Cobble Street location and the railway. The first railway was called the OsageValley and Southern Kansas Railroad. Additional information came from the Chamber of Commerce web site. |

Another Historical plaque I photographed this plaque hoping it would be easy to read but there was just too much information to get into the picture. However Boonville is mentioned and the dates are clear too read. The park tells the three aspects to the story. These are the parks history, the old highway bridge and about the 1993 Missouri flooding. |
